This is a sabbath year and during these years the land is allowed to rest. The Israelites were not to plant or harvest during that year. God would provide for His people. I believe there is a truth to be applied this coming year. Learning how God works and learning from Him is important because His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
The more we learn to rest in the Lord the more we will accomplish. The more we strive in this season to do things by your own hand the more we will beat the wind and produce little. Prepare for this season of rest. This doesn’t mean that we do not work it means we stop doing things our way in our own strength. As we seek God through this season we will be more productive and sustained in health and energy.
I asked the Lord, “How do we prepare?” This was what was impressed in my spirit.
“Prepare to sit with me and listen to my instructions. Carve out time to sit with me each day. It will be just our time. It could be early morning, drive time to and from work, late night, or lunch make an effort to catch minutes with me. Create a time of expectancy and anticipation to be with me, (the Lord).
Listen for my voice throughout the day and hear me from wherever I speak. My sheep know my voice so listen as I speak through other people and you will began to hear it with your spirit and not just your head. You will recognize it is important for you to hear.”
This just happened to me twice this past week. As I spoke with a close family member their words became the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to me. I knew it was important for me to pay attention to their words. Again, as I watched a man teaching on the internet he taught a principle and when I heard it I knew it was important for me to use in teaching to help others understand.
As we learn to operate our life and work from resting in God instead of striving in ourselves we will learn a principle of God that will profit us in our life.
Hebrews 4:10-11 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
